The new Delta COVID variant is causing havoc, just as things were improving yet another highly infectious mutation rears its head. Newcastle upon Tyne is currently in the hot seat with an infection rate of 605 per 100,000 which is a 78.61% increase from the previous week.
New Arrival a Netherland Dwarf
Whilst I could never replace Paddington, the house was so quiet (Rupert normally sleeps all day), I decided I could share it with another rabbit.
I’ve always got my rabbits from rescues before – rabbits often end up in rescues due to children loosing interest and people underestimating the commitment to keeping rabbits.
However, due to my injury I lack core strength, and couldn’t physically pick up Paddington (he was a large rabbit weighing over 3kg), so I wanted a smaller rabbit that I could hopefully pick up more easily.
I researched different breeds and thought a Netherland Dwarf might fit the bill, so went to a breeder who had litter for sale. To be honest, as soon as I saw his picture, I’d chosen the one I wanted, he’d been well handled and is quite friendly.
So please let me introduce Pippin:

Pippin is settling in really well, it’s lovely to watch him running and playing in the lounge, so on the other hand, I may have saved him from a life of being stuck in a small hutch. He often comes when I call his name too (am sure my dog wasn’t that good!).
Rupert my African Pygmy Hedgehog
Unbelievably, Rupert turned 1 in June, I can’t believe I’ll have had him a year in August. He’s very friendly and I enjoy our nightly snuggles on the sofa, when he nestles into my arm and goes to sleep.

Rupert is also way more popular than me with over 200 Instagram followers!
Other Stuff
It’s been a quiet month, apart from creating bunny Alcatraz (Pippin is so small all the bunny proofing has had to be significantly upgraded), and a few trips to the pub.
I also managed to accidentally pull out my nose stud, and struggled to get it back in. I messaged the lovely chap that did the piercing who said to come straight in, sadly it wasn’t to be, but got a triple helix piercing while I was there. Just waiting for my nose to heal properly then I can get it redone again.
I’ve also decided on what I want in my next tattoo, have contacted an artist, just waiting for the final design then I can get booked in – yeah!
Stay safe
