Firstly, wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2021!
The COVID situation continues with a new Tier 4 in many areas, and a massive disruption to Christmas for lots of people.
My area (bizarrely) got moved into Tier 4 despite being in the lower end of the English local authorities. Its scary to see the top area has an infection rate of 1272 per 100,000! Also, we’re yet to see the further expected spike following the allowed mingling on Christmas day.
The vaccine is on its way, and the Oxford vaccine also approved – which will hopefully herald a return to normality on 2021.
Christmas
I had a lovely Christmas, visited my parents for dinner and at my suggestion (Im veggie so normally just have the roasties and veg) we had potato cakes and halloumi kebabs which was devine!
Rupert seemed pleased with his new Christmas house:

My Ancient Greek God
Last month I ranted about a company whose name was connected with a rain forest and their inability for delivery drivers to follow instructions (yes that is still happening!).
I thought i’d mention another company who are named after an ancient greek god, unlike the other company they don’t come up with imaginative places to hide my parcels, they take them to my neighbours. This is even worse!
- I don’t like to bother my neighbours (even though they are very lovely).
- I’m conscious that they are working from home and don’t need the interruptions.
- I have to hope there is room for me to get alongside their car to retrieve the parcel.
Sigh….
Royal Mail are still great though 🙂
Another Birthday
I’ve celebrated (in a very quiet fashion) my birthday again, being in Tier 4 combined with snow and ice wasn’t the best, but I’ll make up for it though when the restrictions get lifted 🙂
I received lots of lovely cards and messages, along with some beautiful flowers.
I was also really touched when a friend embroidered this card for me, which is absolutely beautiful:

My inner sloth..
I love sloths, I follow quite a few sloth accounts in Instagram, so when I needed a new hoody opted for this one:

I fondly remember the times when my alarm would go off, and I’d be out of the house in 10 minutes. Admittedly, I was going to feed, muck out and turnout my horse, so any level of presentability was not required (this takes a lot longer!).
These days it takes me at least 10 minutes to get dressed, but I”m not slow, I’m embracing my inner sloth 🙂
Happy new year! Julia xxx
A happy New Year to you too. Life goes on despite a worldwide shitstorm, the antics of politicians gives some distraction.
My greek god delivery man is a really nice guy by comparison to yours. Always the same guy, we are on first name terms and he toots as he drives past when we are out walking the dogs. Seems it’s the luck of the draw sometimes.
Stay safe 🙏

Wonderful blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News. Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Cheers

I do like the way you have presented this difficulty plus it does indeed provide me a lot of fodder for consideration. Nevertheless, coming from just what I have personally seen, I basically wish as the actual opinions stack on that people today continue to be on point and don’t embark on a soap box regarding the news du jour. All the same, thank you for this excellent piece and although I do not go along with the idea in totality, I value your perspective.
